Meet Dixie and Kate

Welcome to Dixie and Katie's personal doodle page. Two lovely Goldendoodles from Goldendoodle World. Dixie was born in March 2006 and Katie was born in March of 2007. Orlando is Dixie's father and Darby is Katie's father. Two very different doodles, but with the same low shedding coat and loving temperament. Both very shaggy and sweet!

Dear Dee,

Thought you might like some new pictures of Katie and Dixie from your Goldendoodle World. (see below)

Since Remy & Chloe (our other dogs) are now 12 years old,

they have absolutly no interest in playing, so Dixie really needed a

playmate. Enter Katie. We have had her for a week, & she has settled

comfortably into the family routine. Dixie loves having a companion to

romp with in the meadow. Remy & Chloe seem relieved to no longer have to fend off Dixie's playful advances. All are happy in their forest

home.

Marie Keffer

Katie's mother, Queenie, is a purebred Golden Retriever from our Goldendoodle World. She is a 50/50 mix of Standard Poodle and Golden Retriever. Darby, Katie's father, is a large Standard Poodle. He has since been neutered. Katie, her siblings and her cousins born to Emma, are the last of Darby's offspring. Darby was neutered because he was one of our original Poodles when we first began in 1999. He is now retired.

On September 22, 2007 Mr. and Mrs. Keffer came to our home to pick up Katie. They also brought along their lovely "Miss Dixie" who came from our Goldendoodle World in 2006. Dixie came along with the Keffers to meet her new doodle pal, Katie!

Katie is a light apricot Goldendoodle and Dixie is a cream Goldendoodle. Katie will be much larger than Dixie, who weighs approx. 40 pounds. Katie will be closer to 60-65 lbs when she grows up.

All of our Goldendoodles start out pretty much the same way....looking like purebred Golden Retrievers. The difference is the little crinkles about the coat within hours of their birth.

All of our Goldendoodles who are a 50/50 mix have a Golden Retriever temperament. They may have a little different personality, but each are very, very gentle and sweet dogs. We call our 50/50 mix CLASSIC GOLDENDOODLES. Many people do not understand that a Goldendoodle goes through up to 10-15 different coat changes and phases from the time they are born until the day they turn a year old. They also go through a "Lanky" body stage around the age of 4-6 months of age. I like to call this their "teenage lanky" stage. Their legs appear longer than they really are...their coat isn't quite shaggy...their facial beard isn't fully matured and their tail sometimes looks funny because the coat has not bloomed.

Dixie has bloomed into a lovely, beautiful cream Goldendoodle. She's a small doodle and actually weighs only approx. 40 pounds. Her dad, Orlando, is not that large of a Golden Retriever. Her mother is one of our small Standard Poodles. Katie will be much larger than Dixie in height and weight. Dixie's facial beard has fully matured and she is 18 months old in this photo above and to the right. >>>>>>

Dixie came from a litter of cream Goldendoodle babies such as the ones in the photo up above. Her coat is much lighter than Katies. Dixie does have some golden hues, however, about her facial beard and her ears.

All of our 50/50 Goldendoodles, when first born look just like a lovely Golden Retriever puppy. They begin to change in coat and appearance by the time they are 4-6 weeks of age. (see photos above)

six month old Katie and 18 month old Dixie. Both of these doodles love their life of luxury with the Keffers.

Dixie, like all doodles, did not start out being shaggy. She had a very soft, fluffy coat that sprouted in all directions and her facial beard was just beginning when she met her new mom and dad, Mr. & Mrs. Keffer. Her legs had the appearance of being really long...but Dixie was just in a growing stage and all doodles seem to be really tall until their coat grows out.

Dixie has grown and matured into a beautiful shaggy Goldendoodle girl. Her coat is trimmed in the photo to the left. Her coat can actually get much longer and thicker. All doodles appear to be much thinner if their coat is shaved completely down. They are more hair than anything. Their chest is not that wide and they always have a tucked up tummy towards the hindquarters. Many Goldendoodles are actually small framed dogs and do not have the same muscle mass as that of a purebred Golden Retriever.

Dear Dee,

Katie is doing wonderfully. She is a loving and sweet Golden Doodle, just as is Dixie, the two year old. We are very pleased with our new addition. The two romp in our mountain meadow with unsurpassed joy. Wish you could see them. We will have to take a video and send it to you. It is a marvel to watch the interplay.

Dee,Both Doodles are continuing to be marvelous friends and pets. Katie is now slightly larger than her older cousin. She is an ideal dog. Great personality and marvelous coat which does not shed one hair!

Dear Joe and Marie,

Yes, our Goldendoodles are absolutely the best there is to offer for this hybrid. We have Katie's siblings available for sale and unfortunately, they get bypassed for those wanting "younger" because they feel they can't "bond" with a young adult dog, which is nonsense.

I've adopted dogs at ten years of age and bonded immediately. Her siblings look just like her and are equally fantastic.

Perhaps one day the right person will come along to adopt them.

Thanks for keeping us updated on Katie and Dixie. I'm glad they have become such great friends.
