Okay, so you got to meet Juel and Sunny (Sundance Kid) and now Jeul has her own page......here, you can see her progress as she is prepared for her first litter of Goldendoodle puppies in 2004.
Juel, along with all of our other Standard Poodles has a very impressive lineage that dates back to the 1930s. Our Poodles have over 400 OFA Good, Champions in their lineage. Their ancestors came from WYCLIFFE,DASSIN AND EATON kennels and with further research, there are even BEL TOR Champions as well. Juel is the smallest of her two sisters, Mystee and Tory, of whom have been doodle moms. Juel is now taller than she was in 2003........but she is still shorter than our new small Standard Poodle females, Rosie and Rosebud. In 2003, Juel produced our smallest Goldendoodles since 1999. In 2005, Rosie and Rosebud produced our smallest Goldendoodles since 1999. We now know that by breeding Juel, Rosie and Rosebud to Orlando (our smallest male, white Golden Retriever stud), all of their Goldendoodle puppies tend to stay on the small side.
1-17-03: All of our Poodle moms or long haired dams are shaved down prior to their anticipated delivery date. This helps keep the mom as clean as possible and makes it easier for us to bath them again, if necessary.
Puppies can nurse much easier when their mother has a short coat.
Here you can see her little belly....now that we got rid of all the hair!
She is definitely with child! Funny that Jeul reminds me alot of Darby in the face........of course, that's because they share ancestors and they have the same german, swiss and other european family members within their pedigree lines. She and her sisters just happen to be very small and that's what we like!
DARBY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Jeul enjoys being pampered....and of course, we can see more her belly here. We just hope that all goes well with this first litter of hers and we can't wait until they are born!
Jeul likes the feel of the shower/massager; I am sure her babies enjoyed it to. Don't be alarmed at the chain.....it's for her own protection and it's very loose on her. Sometimes we get dogs in our grooming area that DON"T like being bathed and we have to restrain them so that they do not hurt themselves or us in the process.
Jeul doesn't care too much for the blow dryer...but she's a real sweetheart and knows we are only trying to make her feel good!
Luckily the process of grooming doesn't take too long.
Jeul says "Okay...are we done yet???" Yes! Yes! We are now done and ready to finish drying underneath a heating lamp so she does not become chilled.
Jeul is finished and is now drying inside of her doodle-suite with a heating lamp up above. She is on a whelping liner to keep her nice and comfy.
All of our doodle-suites are decorated with "baby decals" and "winnie-the-pooh" decals...this to give their stay a cheerful feeling. She doesn't mind! She is now freshly clean.......drying and getting cozy. Jeul has lovely apricot on her ears and some apricot spots on her back and tail.
Since this is the first time Juel has been inside of a whelping Doodle-Suite, she checks out the Wurlitzer Jukebox and the TV.......she is fascinated by the goings on with "Animal Planet". Soon she settles down and goes to sleep...happily dreaming of the day her new litter makes their grand entrance into the world.
These pictures were taken as our new doodle ward progressed....so please excuse the mess near the TV in the bottom left picture. We were still moving in and putting in the finishing touches. Our doodle ward has many great features and some include color Cable TV...... Wurlitzer Juke Box (provided by my oldest son at Christmas) and adorable baby decals....not to mention my work station and grooming section. Our puppies stay very cozy and warm underneath a heating lamp and have a nice whelping liner to lay on. Each doodle-suit has creature comforts such as a baby-bed bumper and blankets along with cheerful decals. We do have to use plenty of newspapers when the litter is first being born because the reality is, the process of birthing is very messy. As puppies get bigger, they are messy as well. So, while it is nice to want to keep baby bumpers, etc...with young pups...it is not practical.
When it rains, the moms will bring in the dirt and water and so cleaning is a never ending job! Instead of feeling like a breeder...........most breeders feel like their dogs' personal maid service.
Feb. 2004....Right on time.....Juel delivered her puppies with ease and relatively quickly considering this was her first litter of doodles! Her first three males were born one after another within an hour starting this morning at 10:30am. Her first puppy was a nice sized white male. He will most likely be a 55 lb. boy like his dad. The second pup was an apricot male...and the third pup was a red male. Hey...where's the females???
FEB. 2004...This little boy....our fourth pup born.....is very tiny. Juel checks out her fifth puppy...YET ANOTHER MALE.....who is cream. The boy next to him is white. He'll still have golden hues and may even darken up as he gets a few more weeks of age. We call those puppies, Cream. Juel's Goldendoodle puppies can range from 26-45 pounds when we breed her to Autumn or Orlando. They tend to be on the small side.
Juel is resting, but she was still having contractions in this picture and she is in dire need of a bath once all the pups are born. At this point, we did not know how many puppies she was going to have. You can easily see how much bigger the white male is compared to the other two on the left of him. Looking at the pups,
we believe we will have 1 or 2 who will be very small......2 who will be the same size we usually have and 2 who will be "middle children".....they can range anywhere from those weights. We'll know more the closer we get to their sixth week of life. Goldendoodles are never all the same size within any given litter. Each puppy will be a different size as an adult. Unlike purebred dogs, hybrids will vary in weights and heights regardless of the size of the parents.
FEB. 2004.....And then there were six!!! Very unusual that we get so many boys in a single litter.......all are still nice and small. Determining how large they will be as an adult will not become available to me until they are nearly 7-8 wks of age.
Well at least we can fit 3 doodles comfortably in this little wicker basket!
FEB. 2004.....Juel's puppies are getting bigger by the day....small, still, in comparison to our other litters......their eyes are just peaking open and will soon be open completely. Still not nibbling on moms' food right now.
But they will in no time!
We weighed one of Juels' pups on 2-18-04....and he weighed 1 3/4 lbs.
3-7-04: Juels' doodle pups getting bigger, but are still small in comparison. They are playful, coming to me when they see me and also getting to know one another. They have been removed from their mom for the weaning and deworming process.
3-7-04: Our white doodle pups in this litter are turning apricot. As you can see to the right, two of them look like identical twins. They are very sweet!
3-7-04: The smallest puppy in Juels' litter weighs just slightly over 1 pound. ( At 9 mos. of age...her smallest puppy weighed 32 lbs.) . Feb. 2004....This litter is just a little over 4 weeks old.
if we compare them to our average doodle litters that weigh 4-6 lbs at this same age, at this time Feb. 2004, you can see by the picture that for sure, the litters from Mystee and Juel are by far the smallest we have had. (As of March 2005, we have had even smaller pups with Rosebud and Rosie.)
As of March 2005, Rosie's smallest doodle in her first litter weighed just 2 3/4 lbs. at the age of 8 weeks...... Rosebud's smallest female in her first litter weighed 4 pounds at the age of 9 1/2 weeks.
In 2005, we created even smaller Goldendoodles by using a Golden Retriever dam and a Toy Poodle sire. The smallest was 11 pounds.
Juels' pups can fit quite nicely inside of their feeding bowl!!! At four weeks of age, these little doodles are much smaller than any of our other doodles in the past.
If you are interested in obtaining a doodle baby, just follow the instructions on HOW TO ORDER.
As of 3-12-04, everything seems to be right on schedule....all of the pups are doing well and growing like weeds. CLICK HERE for feeding instructions.

This is Gigli.....we nicknamed her "Giggles". She is a beautiful cream. Being the smallest in her litter in 2004.... ..she weighed 32 pounds at the age of 9 months. Because her new family has not kept in contact with us....we do not know what she weighed at the age of 12 months. Giggles was a very delightful Goldendoodle who held a special place in our hearts. We are confident she is providing great pleasure to her new family. She was my vet's (Dr. James who passed away in April 2006) favorite Goldendoodle.
