The dog possesses approximately 200 million olfactory cells compared with 3 million in humans. A dog's power of smell is estimated to be 100 times more powerful than that of a human being. Golden Retrievers are basic field dogs. Their long nose serves them well to hunt and retrieve game for their master.
Goldens are also great group dogs who can be taught at a very early age basic obedience, commands and then field work for those who enjoy having a great "gun" dog or retriever with working skills. Our Golden Retriever males are wonderful Golden Retriever sires.... one of them being "Sundance Kid". The temperaments on our Goldens are very friendly, loving, outgoing and very intelligent.
Nickie's mother, Cinnamon, is the daughter to our two original Golden Retrievers...GINGER, GRUFFY and CINNAMON (all three our original Golden Retrievers) have crossed the rainbow bridge as mid 2007. They were very hardy dogs and never had a single ailment through out their lives. Our Goldens have a beautiful round head with "field" style looks. SUNDANCE KID, one of our Golden Retriever sires, is a very loving male Golden Retriever who weighs approx. 55-60 lbs. He has gorgeous green eyes and liver/chocolate trim. Smart, he is quite a character. Sundance has several nicknames..."Kid"...."Sunnie" and "Googie". He makes funny faces when he is happy....such as the one to the right...and also when he knows he is getting his picture taken. He will actually SIT AND POSE! "Kid" loves to pose and he loves to smile and he absolutely LOVES TO MAKE FACES! Golden Retrievers also love playing in the water and love to swim, if introduced to the water at a young age. We have added a few more Golden Retrievers since 2006 to our breeding program. You can view more of our Golden Retrievers by CLICKING HERE.
While we do have a few very large doodles out and about in the USA, Our average sized doodle is approx. 40-55 pounds. We can give you a pretty good "guesstimate" when our doodles are 5-6 wks of age as to what you can expect in size for your doodle......but it is a "guesstimate". Hybrids will never breed true as far as height and weight regardless of the size of the individual pups' parents. A hybrid can take after anyone within their vast lineage. Puppies will literally vary in size per puppy in any given litter. Just because one parent is smaller than the other does not mean the entire litter will be one particular height/weight. CLICK HERE to read about our smaller Goldendoodles created in 2005. Puppies will vary in size within any given litter....that's just the way it is! I could be 40% wrong.....but there is a 10% chance of that. We busted the size myth in 2005 when we bred our eight pound Toy Poodle to our forty five pound purebred Golden Retriever. At nine months of age, the largest surviving doodle in that litter weighed eighteen pounds and one ounce at 9 months of age. The smallest doodle in that litter at age one year, weighed twelve pounds. We did notice that their temperament was more of the quirky Toy Poodle than that of our superb Golden Retrievers....so, if you are NOT a Toy breed fan, you will NOT appreciate the personality of a Goldendoodle who is very small in size as an adult. The majority of our Goldendoodles have a Golden temperament. Our Golden Retrievers are very sweet, playful and get along with other dogs.
Juel use to be the smallest Standard Poodle that we owned, but now we have two more female standards that are smaller than her.... Juel is 35 lbs. and approx. 17" tall. Mystee, her sister is just slightly taller and heavier and Tory, a sister to both Juel and Mystee is the largest of all three, even though she is still small for a Standard Poodle. We have seen Juel, Mystee and Tory's' doodles range from 30-58 pounds as adults. We now own Rosie and Rosebud...two apricot standard Poodles who are now smaller, but taller than Juel. They weigh approx. 25 lbs.....still too heavy to be considered a "Miniature Poodle"...so, they are are classified as standards. Both have produced Goldendoodle puppies that can be as small as 26 pounds.
Several of our Golden Retrievers have green eyes and a chocolate (liver) colored nose. As a fluke, we had a green eyed Golden Retriever produce a blue eyed Goldendoodle back in 2005. That was "Star Burst". Because we had kept her and integrated her in our breeding program....we now are able to achieve blue eyed Goldendoodles. We are the only Goldendoodle breeder to produce true blue eyed Goldendoodles. All of the others create what is called "Aussie doodles". That is an Australian Shepherd mixed with a Poodle. Two completely differant types of dogs.
Juel and Sundance make a very fine pairing. They are both very loving dogs who possess spirit, the love for being in the water and both have a playful nature. Puppies from the above pairings can be viewed by clicking here.
Duke was bred to Mystee...Juel & Tory's sister, in 2004. Duke is not a long legged Golden Retriever.....he is on the small side...weighing approx. 55 lbs; he is light golden in color.
Mystee is a very sweet natured, small Standard Poodle female who has been bred to Duke...up above. She is slightly taller than Juel...perhaps by 1/2 an inch or so. (Juel being the smallest of the three sisters) and she is just a bit wider in body. We keep our Poodles shaggy in the wintry months and shaved down completely during the summer. Although in the winter they may look messy...they do keep warmer!
MYSTEE had Goldendoodle pups available for Thanksgiving, 2006.
Tory was paired up with one of our most experienced sires, Autumn, in 2004 and she has been paired up with our other sires for Goldendoodles beyond 2004. Autumn was officially retired in late 2006, however, we have several of his male offspring that we added to our breeding program who will carry on his terrific gene pool! Tory is the largest of her sisters.....Juel and Mystee...but stands just under 18" tall. She is a real sweet-heart and very well behaved. She is a very kick back type of dog and friendly. She is a bit taller than Autumn, but not by much. Tory loves to explore and see what is going on...as witnessed in the upper right hand picture. She loves to look over into the other kennel runs and see what's up. In July, 2004...Tory tied with Autumn and they had their first doodle litter together. PUPPIES ARE LISTED ON THIS LINK WHEN AVAILABLE.
"And the gods smiled down upon her."

FACTS ABOUT DOODLES
Juel was our smallest Standard Poodle female in 2004. She is 17" tall...apricot...super sweet and you can see her past puppies by CLICKING HERE. Now, Rosie, Rosebud and Sugar are our smallest Standard Poodles. All of our Poodles are leggy.
Photos of Rosie and Rosebud can be found by CLICKING HERE .
Orlando, Ariel and Copper, our two lightest and smallest Golden Retrievers strongly resemble the imported ENGLISH/BRITISH WHITES.....
The terms used by breeders in Europe.
Orlando has become a favorite sire for 2005.............he and his sisters, Copper and Ariel are very white in color. Some of our smallest Goldendoodles use to come from Juel, Lola, Rosebud, Rosie and Sugar who are all small Standard Poodles but now we also get smaller doodles from Copper and Ariel as well.
Rosie and Rosebud are sisters from the same litter and both sisters are distantly related to Pierre. Juel is distantly related to Pierre, Rosie, Sugar and Rosebud but is the smallest sister to Tory and Mystee. All look exactly alike which is why we have them micro-chipped. Some are just a few pounds in size difference.
Copper, Ariel and Orlando are brother and sister and favor each other tremendously....the difference is their size. Orlando is much larger than Copper and Ariel is smaller than Copper and Orlando. He does have a more beautiful coat...but I think that the males are the ones who have nicer coats because they don't go through hormonal changes like female dogs.
Just more of our beautiful and extremely sweet natured Golden Retrievers who were bred and born here. Our Golden Retrievers have superb temperaments, very nice structures and have been some of the hardiest dogs we have ever owned. YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT OUR GOLDEN RETRIEVERS BY CLICKING HERE.
Golden Retrievers, in general, of great family dogs for children of all ages. They are extremely intelligent...some times too smart for their own good. Personally speaking, my Goldens have the best temperaments I could have ever asked for in a Golden.
Goldendoodles come in all sizes and in all colors!!! Beginning in 2005, added Tri-color and parti-colors to our list of doodle colorations. In 2005, we also produced our first blue eyed Goldendoodle. Because Goldendoodles with eye color other than brown are extremely difficult to create, they are very welcome when we have them! All chocolate and Chocolate phantom doodles have amber/green eyes but we now can have creams and apricots with gorgeous blue, green, amber and multi-colored eyes! By integrating Goldendoodles with eye color other than brown, our chances for having light colored eyed Goldendoodles are much higher.
