On June 26, 2005  Sara had her new Goldendoodle litter!  The photos of her puppies being born may be graphic and parental guidance is suggested.
MEET SARA
Meet Sara!  She is a Lake Ridge Golden Retriever who is very sweet natured, gentle and calm.
GOLDENDOODLE ABOUT TO BE BORN
Sara's Goldendoodle puppy is about to make its entrance into the world.  The reality to the birthing process is that it is very messy.  Alot of amniotic fluid passes before a puppy is born.
This fluid can be green in color or have some blood content.
A DOODLE IS ABOUT TO BE BORN
As Sara has contractions,  the new Goldendoodle puppy is being pushed towards the exit....ie...Sara's vagina.  It has opened up enough to allow passage of her newly arriving puppy.  Alot of amniotic fluid passes.  Sara had some of her puppies come out feet first and this is common.  Because a puppy can quickly suffocate under these circumstances,  it is necessary that I am there to provide quick assistance during the entire birthing process.
Sara's vagina opens further as the new Goldendoodle puppy begins to make its way through the birth canal.  The puppy is near the edge of the opening and about to make its grand entrance into the world.  The bulge is apparent under  the skin of Sara which  is the puppy coming near the exit to be born.  A couple more pushes and contractions and soon the puppy will be out.  There are times when the breeder must reach inside to assist the puppy if there is difficulty such as the mother becoming too tired to push or if a puppy is backwards and stuck.
A NEW GOLDENDOODLE IS BORN
Sara's new Goldendoodle puppy is inside of amniotic fluid (called a sac)  that helps the puppy survive while inside of the mother's tummy.  This fluid is what the puppy breathes before being born.
The new puppy is now coming out and soon the sac will break open.  I remove the puppy after it comes out and break open the sac so that Sara can rest before the next puppy is due.  Her litter is a very large one.....  12 in all!!!  Males and females!
It is very important to ensure that the puppy does NOT inhale amniotic fluid as this can cause aspirated pneumonia.  (respiratory distress caused by breathing fluid into the lungs).  This is prevented by keeping the puppy tilted downward while cleaning the mouth, nostrils and body and breathing into its mouth/nose  with short, quick bursts of air by the breeder...ie...myself.  It is sort of like giving mouth to mouth but not placing your mouth directly upon the puppy's mouth.  This becomes necessary at times and if a breeder is not available during the birthing process,  a puppy can die within minutes if left alone due to suffocation.
newborn goldendoodle
Here he is!!!!  Sara's newborn male Goldendoodle puppy!  He is the smallest and yet, first to be born!
The "runt" is not always born at the end of the birthing process.  The smallest puppy is not always the last puppy and can be born first, in the middle or end or even somewhere in-between!  This little boy is quickly dried off.....cleaned up and rubbed down vigorously to get him "started".  He's a real cutie isn't he???  There are more to come...so...let's keep going!
Sara's puppies came out very quickly!  Her delivery of puppies was quite easy and her labor time was not that long.  Soon, we had another puppy!  This particular  litter was  born June 26, 2005.

They are all dark apricot in color....all appear to be very healthy and as of 5:45PM,  they are all eating..sleeping and doing very nicely.  All will become much lighter as the days and months go by.
Sara's puppies were completely born by noon.  Her first puppy...the little boy up above was born at 7am.
Before we knew it,  there was 5!!!  2 girls and three boys!  All nice and fat.   Sara is doing well and by this point was still showing she had alot more puppies to go!
This is a close up of her newborn puppies!  They are all dark apricot....but will  lighten up as they age.  Right now,  they look just like every other Goldendoodle we have seen since 1999. All newborn Goldendoodles look like a purebred Golden Retriever at first.   It's hard to see, but there is some "rippling" going on at the base of their tail and some have some "rippling" on the body coat.   Rippling indicates a nice long, shaggy coat.  The more ripples, the shaggier the coat.
MOMMY ATTENDS TO HER GOLDENDOODLE PUPPIES
WOW SARA! You now have 8 little Goldendoodle babies!!!  What's up???  Sara is still fat and by now,  we know for sure there are more on the way!!!
The newborn babies are eating and looking very nice!  We are definitely pleased with this litter.
Pierre is the father to this litter.  We expect these puppies to be anywhere from 45-65 pounds as an adult. Heights are more difficult to determine.   It is very difficult to tell how tall a Goldendoodle will be, but we can give a good guesstimate as to their approx. genetic weight as an adult when they get closer to the age of 8 weeks.  Goldendoodles are generally "leggy" dogs because of the Poodle, but what gorgeous dogs they are!

Meet Pierre!  As summer comes,  we shave down our Poodles so that they do not become too hot!  Pierre is approx. 35-40 pounds now and stands approx. 18 inches tall.  He is a very lovable and calm Poodle and his father is Alexx of Excel Jr who is the son of Alexx of Excel.  Alex comes from an extensive  OFAgood, Champion lineage out Wycliffe, Bel Tor, Eaton and Dassin heritage.  Many people still believe that the parents play a role in determining size of a puppy. The entire lineage plays a role with hybrids.  Genetics determines  the size and the temperament, not gender.  If un-altered, female dogs will spray on your lower plants and of course, male dogs will spray on your favorite rims and tires! All dogs will roam if not supervised.
Everybody is ready to eat breakfast...........Sara's litter is growing like little weeds!
Breakfast is ready and all the pups have gathered around their feeding bowl to eat.........of course they all try and stand in their food and shove each other out of the way, but everyone gets plenty to eat around here!
