SCISCO'S KID
scisco kid...our Standard Poodle
Scisco's Kid is a lovely, playful and very sweet  Apricot, small Standard Poodle.  Scisco's Kid was our main sire until we added Darby to our breeding program.   Scisco has a very impressive Champion pedigree dating back to 1960.   Information regarding the ancestry of our poodles can date back to the 1930s.   In April 2007,  this terrific boy was  retired from our breeding program. In early  August 2009 we had to unfortunately have Scisco's Kid put to sleep.  We originally  obtained him as an adult dog. Scisco's Kid was 15 yrs old at the time of his passing.  He is sorely missed.  You may view some names in his pedigree and obtain further doodle info  by CLICKING HERE.    Darby & Scisco have shared ancestry.  We later added Blackie , Cocoa and then Pierre.   As of August 18, 2009 we only have 2 Poodle sires in our breeding program and that is Pierre and Blackie.  Our Poodle sires were obtained as adult dogs, so it  will not be long before both Blackie and Pierre are removed as well from our breeding program.  Do not despair, however.  We do own a few of their ancestors so that their superb lineage can continue on.
None of our Standard Poodles are very tall or heavy in weight.  We've always considered our Standard Poodles to be much smaller than what many breeders produce.   Scisco has produced extremely quality, beautiful Goldendoodles through the years.    Many of our doodles favor each other tremendously because of the shared ancestry of our Poodles...but we do, on occasion,  see a varience of looks.   Thousands of  Poodles around the Globe have a similar ancestry to our own Poodles.   This is due to the extensive breeding of those who were simply delighted with the WYCLIFF, EATON,  BEL TOR AND DASSIN lines dating back to the 1930s.   We literally have hundreds of Champions within  our Poodles ancestry.   ALL OF OUR POODLES HAVE AKC PEDIGREES BUT WE PARTICIPATE WITH UKCI and all of our Goldendoodles are registered UKCI.    AKC has very poor customer service and does not assist breeders when there are customer/breeder issues.  We switched all of our purebred dogs to UNIVERSAL KENNEL CLUB many, many years ago because of their quality customer service.   All of our male Poodles have a wider head and shorter muzzle than most "french" bred Poodles.   This is because they  have many Scandinavian, Swedish  and German ancestors who were  shorter and stockier in build.   We prefer this build because it makes a wonderful combination for our Golden Retrievers who have a round head and long muzzle.  We do not have any Golden Retrievers with a short, block or square head.   Most of our Goldens have more of the "field" style appearance and that is the most common appearance for the Golden Retriever.

This is baby Tupper.....he is our first red male of 2003 with beautiful green eyes and chocolate markings. (Just like lovely Jordy from 2002 born to us).  I took these pictures while we were waiting for his new daddy, Judge Tupper,  of South Carolina,  to pick him up.  I especially wanted to get a close up of his coat, so that everyone can see how fluffy these babies are!  All of Angel's litter is beginning to get the same thick coat as all of our past doodles.

To the upper left is Baby Tupper....born to Angel on Feb. 6, 2003;  To the upper right is Jordy......born to Nugget in June of 2002.  Our Goldendoodles look very unique when born with the lovely green eyes and chocolate nose/paw trim.  There are very limited doodle breeders who can achieve green eyes in their doodles.  Since 2005, we have been the ONLY DOODLE BREEDER who has thus far achieved blue eyed Goldendoodles.  In 2005,  we  increased our chances of having green eyed doodles born to us through our Golden Retrievers because  we were able to produce 2 more purebred Golden Retrievers with green eyes. We  added them to our doodle  breeding program. In 2005,  we also  increased our chances for blue AND green eyed Goldendoodles by producing a blue eyed and a green eyed Goldendoodle of which we kept and added THEM into our doodle  breeding program.  IN 2006 WE PRODUCED GOLDENDOODLES WITH BOTH BLUE, BROWN, AMBER AND GREEN EYES, including puppies with multi colored eyes.

4-11-03: We said Good-bye to one more puppy!  Little girl  Brooks   left us to be with her family in Sewell, New Jersey! The other (lighter) colored pups  in this picture are from Queenie's litter who left us on April 11th, 2003  along with Baby Brooks.    Below are some more pictures of past  doodles born to Angel..........
Baby Klause & Perkins left us on April 18th,  2003.     Little girl Perkins moved  to Mason, Ohio and Little girl Klaus moved to  Windsor, Conn.
4-23-03:  Baby Bre chomps on a huuuuuge bone while waiting for her family to arrive from Florida to pick her up.
Her new children arrived and were delighted to see such a fluffy girl awaiting them!!!  One of Bre's children reads up on crate training......and we say Good-bye to our next to last pup out of  Angel's litter.  Happy trails BRE!
4-26-03:    This morning, Harley was up and ready to meet his new parents from Virginia.   He played with his "baby" and we had some time to spend together for the last time.   Harley was a very large boy out of Angels' litter.
He weighed approx.  17 lbs.   at the age of 8 weeks and was the largest male in the litter.

4-26-03:    Harley has been quite "taken" with his toy since his last litter mate, Bre, left him.  So, since it was time to go outside to do his "job"..why not take baby along! No sense in doing this chore alone!

4-26-03:    Harley says good-bye to the kitty....OOPS! WRONG END!  Finally,  Mr. & Mrs. Elton get to meet their lovely doodle, Harley and we say good-bye to our very last puppy born in Feb. to Angel.  Harley is our first cream male ever born to us with the beautiful green eyes & chocolate nose.  We didn't put this big guy on a scale, but my guess is he had to weigh nearly 12 lbs!!!  He sure felt like it and we know that Harley will be a very big boy.   Mr. & Mrs. Elton were very pleased to meet their beautiful boy.  Harley will reside with his new family in Virginia.

a Goldendoodle FAMILY
A GOLDENDOODLE FAMILY
In the beginning, we allowed our customers to make their own puppy selection.  However,  we unfortunately learned the hard way in 2004 that by  Having people handle all of our puppies just to select ONE, also placed our young pups at great risk for becoming ill with parvo or distemper .  When people are searching for their perfect family pet,  they may come into contact with all sorts of puppies.  Because some breeders do not take precautions and vaccinate their pups,  diseases can pass from one puppy to another and cause another breeders' pups to die.  This is why our policy is now very strict.  While some do not agree with our policy,  it keeps our puppies alive and well.  THe health of our puppies is our number one priority.
Many people assume they can best pick out their own puppy, but we find that many people select the wrong puppy and for all the wrong reasons.  It is impossible to  judge  a puppy by using "first impressions". People can not  make the proper puppy selection by spending just  30 minutes to one hour with a group of puppies. Many puppies are wrongly chosen by their owners because their owners  base their decision on how the puppy acts...how playful or not playful a puppy is...whether they come to them first and so on. Puppies  act much differently when first meeting strangers.  Just because a puppy is wary at first of someone doesn't mean they are shy, skittish or not interested.   Some customers feel an active puppy is "hyper" or "wild" and they use those terms for a puppy who is just excited about meeting them for the first time and it can be a completely inaccurate judgement.  Our puppies love to play.  But it does take some time for them to warm up to the idea of a new person in their life.  When children are involved,  they too get excited! Children jump around and make sudden noises which can be a bit over-whelming for a young puppy.  Being scared is not a sign of a puppy who has no confidence or of being skiddish.  It just means that the new activity is different for them and will take some time getting use to.    We highly recommend that anyone meeting a puppy for the first time,  take things slow....sit down at the puppy's  level and let them get to know you  first.  That way, the new person or people are not so scary to such a small puppy.  We also learned that if the weather was cold,  a puppy that was normally playful and outgoing,  was now shivering and NOT wanting to be outside. Completely normal!  If it is too hot, our puppies may not want to be outside either. A shivering puppy may give the impression that they are  "fearful" and "shy" and that is  simply NOT the case!  Because we know our Goldendoodles and other puppies much better than anyone,  we assign each puppy to its family.  We have assigned our puppies to their families for many years.  There are a lot of people who do not agree with our policy and that is fine.
We are not going to change our policy simply because someone disagrees with it.  Our policy is what it is to help  keep our puppies safe from being exposed to deadly canine diseases.  Yes, we DO vaccinate each and every single puppy at the appropriate times but vaccines do not protect a puppy 100 percent! Too many breeders assume a vaccine protects their puppies and they allow anyone to handle them simply for the asking.  We are NOT one of those breeders.  If you disagree with our purchase policy, we do wish you well on your doodle quest.  We do not make exceptions to our policy simply to please the general public's view of what we should or should not be doing as a breeder.
In March of 2004,   we said Good-bye to Nikis' doodle pups sired by Scisco.    2 males had beautiful green eyes and the remainder were adorable with brown eyes.  One of her pups resides in NC near Raliegh........one of her pups resides in  Georgia........one resides in Florida and the other resides up north.   We retired Scisco's Kid in  April, 2007. In August of 2009,  Scisco's Kid passed away.  He was 13 years old.   Scisco's Kid will be sorely missed but we do have a few of his ancestors so that his wonderful lineage can live on.
WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR DOODLE PATCH
